Rob & Michele Reiner Were Guests At Conan O’Brien’s Annual Christmas Party In Los Angeles
American filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025. Their son, Nick, was arrested later that day on suspicion of murder.
The night before, they attended an annual Christmas party in Los Angeles thrown by a well-known television personality. This was Conan O’Brien, who is known for hosting a variety of late-night shows over the years.
Recently, O’Brien has broken his silence on the tragedy. Speaking with The New Yorker, he shared, “It’s just so awful.”
O’Brien Noted Growing ‘Closer & Closer’ To The Couple Over The Years
As the late-show host continued, he mused on how, almost instantly, a tragedy can happen. He noted, “I think about how Rob felt about things that are happening in the country, how involved he was, how much he put himself out there. And to have that voice go quiet in an instant is still hard for me to comprehend.”
O’Brien added that he not only knew Rob and Michele, but he also got “closer and closer” to them over the years. He always shared that he and his wife both saw them a lot.
Once asked about how quickly things felt, as shared by the outlet, O’Brien shared, “And to have that experience of saying good night to somebody and having them leave and then find out the next day that they’re gone… I think I was in shock for quite a while afterward.”
As noted by Page Six, it was revealed around the time of Rob and Michele’s deaths that they had argued with their son at O’Brien’s Christmas party the previous night. Sadly, it was the couple’s daughter, Romy, who found them stabbed to death in their California home. Rob and Michele were 78 and 70 at the time of their deaths, respectively.
Their son Nick has since been arrested and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders. He currently faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
