Quick summary: Arsenal make eight changes for their FA Cup tie at home to League One strugglers Wigan Athletic

Arsenal and Wigan Athletic have confirmed their starting teams for their meeting at St Andrew’s in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

The Premier League leaders have made eight changes for a kinder-looking fixture against opponents in the third-tier relegation zone, perhaps with an eye on their trip to bottom side Wolves on Wednesday (20:00 GMT).

Wigan might also see the tie as a welcome break from their troubled League One campaign, having gone winless in eight matches in the division and lost their last four.

101GreatGoals.com has the line-up news from Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic in the 2025/26 FA Cup, as well as details on how to watch.

Arsenal confirmed starting team vs Wigan Athletic

Centre-back William Saliba missed the 1-1 draw at Brentford on Thursday through illness but returns this time for Arsenal.

Kepa Arrizabalaga continues his run in goal in the FA Cup in place of David Raya. Defender Cristhian Mosquera keeps his place, as do Noni Madueke, who scored against the Bees, and Eberechi Eze, who made way for Martin Odegaard at half-time in that game.

Midfielder Odegaard received treatment after Brentford’s goal and is not in the squad. Jurrien Timber also drops out entirely, having started three days ago.

Forward Kai Havertz remains sidelined by a muscle issue, while Bukayo Saka is still on the bench as the inspirational winger continues his comeback from injury.

Arsenal starting XI: Kepa; White, Mosquera, Saliba, Calafiori; Eze, Norgaard, Lewis-Skelly; Madueke, Jesus, Martinelli

Arsenal substitutes: Hincapie, Gabriel, Saka, Gyökeres, Trossard, Setford, Zubimendi, Rice, Salmon

Wigan Athletic full line up vs Arsenal

Midfielder Baba Adeeko, left-back Luke Robinson, centre-back James Carragher and forward Harry McHugh are out injured for Wigan, who make three changes from their 2-1 home defeat by Reading on Tuesday.

Owen Moxon replaces former Arsenal player Matt Smith in midfield. Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Joe Taylor supplant Harrison Bettoni and Christian Saydee in attack.

Captain Jason Kerr made his first appearance for two months against the Royals.

Wigan Athletic starting XI: Tickle; Fox, Aimson, Kerr; Hunt, Weir, Moxon, Murray; Raphael, Wright; Taylor

Wigan substitutes: Savin, Sessegnon, Smith, Hungbo, McManaman, Bettoni, Costelloe, Saydee, Asamoah Jr

How to watch Arsenal vs Wigan: TV channel, live online stream

Kick-off on Sunday is at 16:30 GMT (11:30 ET / 08:30 PT), with live coverage in the UK on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.

TNT Sports costs £29.99 a month through Discovery Plus, which includes Eurosport and entertainment and is available on a vast range of devices including smart TVs and gaming consoles.

    Arsenal vs Wigan Athletics stats

    • Arsenal have not gone beyond the fourth round since winning the competition in 2019/20, beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final at the end of Arteta’s first season in charge
    • They have gone out in the third round at home in the last two campaign, suffering a painful defeat on penalties at home to Manchester United last season and conceding twice after the 79th minute in a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in 2023/24
    • The Gunners have won the FA Cup a record 14 times – one ahead of Manchester United – and first lifted the trophy in 1930
    • Runners-up seven times, they last lost the final in 2001. Only United (22) have reached the final more often
    • Arteta won the FA Cup for the first time as a player with Arsenal in 2013/14. They recovered from falling 2-0 behind to Hull City in the final that season, winning 3-2 after extra time
    • Wigan have lost 10 of their 11 away games against Arsenal in all competitions
    • Athletic have won their last six away matches in the FA Cup, conceding one goal along the way
    • They’ve already had one run of seven away wins in the competition from January 2013 to March 2014 – should they win here, it would be the fifth-ever run of seven away wins in a row by a team in FA Cup history (first round onwards) and two would have been achieved by the Latics
    • Only bottom side Port Vale (5) have won fewer League One games than Wigan (7) this season
    • A 1-0 win at Championship club Preston North End in the previous round is their only victory in their last five away matches (L3 D1)
