    Las fronteras no siempre estuvieron en los mapas. Durante siglos se trazaban con murallas, torres y fortines. En la península ibérica esas líneas eran móviles. Se desplazaban según las fortalezas caían o resistían, según un ejército cruzaba un río o ganaba una batalla. Las hubo entre el mundo islámico y el cristiano, entre Castilla y Aragón, o a lo largo del límite con Portugal. Y en cada una de ellas, un castillo servía de vigía, de punto de paso y de símbolo de poder.

    Hoy, aquellos lugares que un día fueron estratégicos son una manera de viajar por la historia. Muchos conservan sus estructuras casi intactas, otros apenas muestran unos muros, pero todos explican cómo se fue dando forma al territorio. En ruta recorremos siete castillos que nacieron para defender una frontera y que hoy son miradores privilegiados de nuestro pasado.
