Vertical Entertainment have released the first teaser trailer for We Bury The Dead. The post-apocalyptic thriller is set to release on January 2nd, 2026, and is led by Star Wars star Daisy Ridley.
Written and directed by Australian filmmaker Zak Hilditch, and, according to the official synopsis, will follow Ava (Ridley) as she searches for her husband as part of a body retrieval unit identifying the dead after a catastrophic American military experiment has caused mass casualties across Tasmania.
Joining Ridley is Brenton Thwaites (Titans), Mark Coles Smith (Mystery Road: Origin), Chloe Hurst (Andi Mack), Kym Jackson (Eat Brains Love) and Matt Whelan (Narcos). The film premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival and is produced by Grant Sputore, Joshua Harris, Mark Fasano, Kelvin Munro and Ross M. Dinerstein.
Synopsis:
After a catastrophic military disaster, the dead don’t just rise – they hunt. Ava (Daisy Ridley) searches for her missing husband, but what she finds is far more terrifying.

We Bury The Dead is yet to receive a UK distributor along with a release date. This will release on October 9th in New Zealand and Australia, and on January 9th, 2026 in the US.
