After twenty years on the air, Dancing With The Stars saw renewed interest in Season 34. The high viewership led ABC to announce two new exciting projects for the dance competition. However, viewers ripped one upcoming event to shreds, calling it a total “flop.” Keep reading to find out why.
Dancing With The Stars Announces Exciting Event
Robert Irwin easily won Season 34 of Dancing With The Stars. His win came a decade after his sister, Bindi, won the Mirrorball Trophy. Both are well-known because of their father, the late “Crocodile Hunter,” Steve Irwin. The family continues to bolster his legacy with conservationist efforts in Australia.
The ABC reality competition celebrated its 20th season last year. The network hasn’t officially renewed it for Season 35. However, the network did recently make an exciting announcement. For the first time ever, fans of the show have the opportunity to meet several of the pro dancers and contestants.
A Dancing With The Stars fan convention is set for July 31-Auguest 2, 2026, at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. Several of the pros and select contestants already take part in a nationwide live tour. However, the convention gives fans a chance to meet their favorites up close and personal.
Furthermore, a spinoff is reportedly in the works at ABC for a competition to choose the next professional dancer. Robert Irwin is in talks to host, though nothing is confirmed yet.

Viewers Rip Into ‘Flop’ Event
Meeting a Dancing With The Stars pro dancer would be a dream come true for many fans. However, the upcoming event was ripped on social media as a total “flop.”
Fans of the reality show were already disappointed when the “big” announcement was the convention. Many viewers wanted an All-Star season, or something related to the television show.
Now that the information about the convention is out there, one fan took to Reddit to point out a huge lack of ticket sales. Other fans of the show went to the comments to share their thoughts on the “flop” event.

The DWTS fan shared a screenshot of a majority of unsold seats on Ticketmaster.
- “It does seem like a glorified tour”
- “They may have to cancel if it doesn’t sell like the Atlantis thing. Would be embarrassing because they made a big deal about it on GMA.”
- “If it remains half empty by showtime, I would imagine there won’t be another in 2027”
- “it will not surprise me if this gets cancelled. they would have been better off bringing back dwts cruises than doing this”
- “I feel really bad for the pros and celebs who are probably really looking forward to this, but how anyone thought this was a good idea is beyond me!”
- “they have pitched it as a con where you can meet the pros and celebrities. But then unless you get one of the VIP tickets, it doesn’t say anything about that.”
The Dancing With The Stars fan convention isn’t until July. Do you think ticket sales will improve or is the event a huge bust?
