Dave Coulier spent years keeping viewers in stitches as Uncle Joey on ABC’s sitcom, Full House. He was among the cast who returned in 2016 for the Netflix reboot, Fuller House. The reboot came to an end in 2020.
In 2024, the actor went public with a cancer diagnosis. Now, he shared a sad update about his health. Keep reading to find out what’s going on.
Full House Star Diagnosed With Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma In 2024
Generation X suffered a huge loss in 2022 when Bob Saget, who played the dad on Full House, died suddenly after falling in a hotel room. While still mourning his friend, Dave Coulier had to face his own mortality in 2024 when he was diagnosed with cancer.
He was diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma after going to the doctor for swollen lymph nodes. A PET scan caught the cancer early. Dave Coulier called the experience “pretty overwhelming” in a PEOPLE magazine interview at the time.
He started chemotherapy two weeks after his diagnosis. When he shaved his head, his Fuller House co-star John Stamos donned a bald cap in solidarity.
Dave Coulier Reveals Sad Cancer Update On Today Show
Dave Coulier lives in St. Clair, Michigan, with his wife, Melissa Bring. His son from a previous marriage welcomed a child in March, making the Full House star a grandfather. The same day his grandchild was born, Dave Coulier got a clean bill of health that he was cancer-free.
But the comedian returned to the Today Show this week with a sad update about his health. While he beat one cancer, he was recently diagnosed with a new, unrelated cancer. It was discovered during a PET scan in October.
Dave Coulier has been diagnosed with early-stage P16 squamous carcinoma, a type of tongue cancer. His doctors said it was completely unrelated to the other cancer he had. The comedian has already started chemotherapy.

His doctors are optimistic about battling the cancer. The Full House star shared a message to viewers. “Early detection saved my life not just the first time, but the second time as well,” Dave Coulier told Today host Craig Melvin.
The actor added, “So, I hope you’re getting your checkups. I hope you’re [getting] colonoscopies and breast exams and prostate exams. They will save your life.”
Support From Full House Co-Star
Full House was part of ABC’s TGIF lineup in the 1990s. Dave Coulier became close friends with Bob Saget and John Stamos. He shared how “Uncle Jesse” has been a huge source of support amid both the first cancer diagnosis and now the second.
“He’s just a brother. He just came to support me and my wife, Melissa, and the outreach of support has been amazing,” Dave Coulier said about John Stamos coming out to visit him in Michigan last year.
With the support of his family, co-stars, and fans, Dave Coulier has no doubt he will beat cancer for a second time.
