Heading into the 14th day of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo, Canada is at 15 medals (four gold medals, five silver medals and six bronze medals). They are in 10th place in the overall medal standings. Here is what Friday has in store.
Ski Cross
There are three Canadian medal opportunities in women’s ski cross on Friday (begins 4am MT). Marielle Thompson of North Vancouver, British Columbia won gold at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Brittany Phelan of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won silver at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, and Hannah Schmidt of Ottawa, Ontario has won nine World Cup ski cross medals.
Curling
Canada’s Rachel Homan is in the semifinals of the Olympic women’s curling tournament at 6am MT. Her opponent is Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg, the 2018 Olympic gold medalist.
Hockey
Team Canada is in the semifinals of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament after a dramatic 4-3 win over the Czech Republic. Canada will now face Finland at 8:40 AM MT.
Freestyle Skiing
There are three Canadians in the men’s halfpipe skiing final. They are Calgary’s Brendan Mackay, the 2023 world champion, Andrew Longino of Calgary, the 2020 Winter Olympic Youth Olympics champion, and Dylan Marineau of Calgary. The final is at 11:30 AM MT.
Short Track Speed Skating
There is once again multiple medal opportunities for Canada. Canada is the defending Olympic gold medalists in the men’s 5000 metres, and will compete in the final against the Netherlands, South Korea and Italy (1;30 PM MT). Courtney Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick is a two-time silver medalist in the women’s 1500m at the world championships, and finished in second place in the women’s 1500 metres in the last two World Cup seasons. The women’s 1500 metres will be at 2:07 pm MT.
