A ship captain shared information about the tragedy in a lengthy post, while paying tribute to Meadows. In addition, a spokesperson for the Discovery Channel has shared a statement about what happened.

Meadows was described as being a deckhand who was part of Captain Rick Shelford’s crew. He was 25 at the time of his death.
As outlets noted at the time of his death, Meadows had been featured on the long-running Discovery series, Deadliest Catch. Initially coming out in 2005, viewers have seen numerous crew members brave harsh waters during numerous crab fishing seasons.
Shelford confirmed the tragic news on Facebook. Saying that the crew lost their “brother,” Todd Meadows, the post opened up by sharing, “February 25, 2026, was the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea.”
It was shared that Todd was the newest member of the crew. However, “he quickly became family.”
Praising Meadows, the post noted, “His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.”
The post continued, “Todd’s love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him.” Fans were asked to pray for Todd’s family in light of the tragic news.
A GoFundMe Has Since Been Started To Help Todd Meadow’s Family
Ultimately sharing that he would remain with the boat, crew, and “brotherhood” in spirit, Shelford was assured that his legacy would live on, especially through his children. The post concluded, reading, “Rest easy, brother, till we meet again.”
According to TMZ, Meadows was said to have died in a fishing-related incident during filming. At this time, it’s unclear if cameras caught the incident on tape. Meadows was 25 at the time of his death.
A spokesperson for the Discovery Channel also shared a statement with the outlet. As it read, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows. This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.”
In addition, a GoFundMe page has been started in Todd’s honor. Donations were said to help the family with funeral expenses and other financial concerns at this time.
