News had come out that deckhand Todd Meadows died after falling overboard while filming for the reality series, Deadliest Catch. Since the tragedy happened, his family had broken their silence. In particular, Todd’s mother shared her feelings on the footage of the tragic incident.
Deadliest Catch‘s Todd Meadows Was 25 At The Time Of His Death
Meadows fell overboard while crabbing on a fishing boat, the Aleutian Lady, on February 25. When his body was recovered from the Bering Sea near Alaska, first aid and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
At the time, Captain Rick Shelford shared the tragic news on social media. It has also been noted that the incident took place while cameras were filming the crew for the show.
Since then, Meadows’ mother, Angela, has broken her silence about her son’s tragic passing. She shared that she doesn’t want the show to profit from what happened.
Speaking with TMZ, Angela shared, “We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death.” She also expressed hope that the series will take the opportunity to honor her son, noting, “We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”
Todd’s Mother Shared That She & His Father Still Want ‘Answers’
Reportedly, as the Coast Guard continues its investigation into Todd’s death, the family is waiting for answers for what happened. According to Angela, she’s been assured that her son did not suffer during his final moments.
Angela continued, noting, “We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility.” However, she expressed, “We will have justice for Todd.”
As the outlet noted, Angela shared her hope that production didn’t just stand back and film what happened. She noted that she and Todd’s father, Luke, were hoping for the best, but still “want answers.”
Meadows was 25 at the time of his death and is survived by three young sons. A GoFundMe has since been developed to help his family at this time.
The campaign shared, “We are heartbroken to share the sudden passing of Todd Morgan Meadows, a beloved 25-year-old father, son, brother and friend, who left us far too soon while doing what he loved. Crabbing out on Alaskan waters.”
The post continued, “He was a determined dad to three amazing little boys who were his entire world. Everything he did was for them — their smiles, their futures, and the memories they will carry with them.” It was noted that the funds would help support Todd’s sons, aid funeral expenses, and ease the family’s current financial burden.
