SHOULD YOU VISIT THE HOUSE OF CANDY?
It’s been colder and rainier lately in Barcelona, and my 10-yo needed to get out of the house because she’s very active. But I didn’t feel like being outdoors, so I decided to try something new and we headed to House of Candy, a new multisensory experience that has recently opened in Barcelona. It is run by the same people of the White Rabbit Museum about which I already wrote here, and I had loved it there: the attention to detail, the capacity to create a magical atmosphere and to build the right mix of action and awe…
So we decided to give it a go, and we had a blast! My daughter couldn’t stop saying “Mom, we have to come back and bring my little cousin!”. We were there in the morning, little after they opened, and the ambiance was very family-friendly. Lots of parents with kids, most of them younger than my 10yo. And I do think that this is the perfect age frame to for this attraction – but maybe I’m biased by my own experience and if I had come back in the late afternoon or the evening I’d have had a different impression? I don’t know.
Anyway, it was fun. As it couldn’t be otherwise, at the entrance you are received by a pastry and gelato shop (real food, not fake) in case you want to start indulging before you enter the museum. Then you are sorted out in groups by entrance time, there’s lockers to leave your stuff if you don’t want to carry everything around and… you are given a cup filled with goodies! There’s no better way to get you in the mood, than to give you a sugar high, LOL. But isn’t it a great idea? Keep reading to see a stop-by-stop explanation of what the experience is about!
