Dominique Rhymes has announced his retirement after eight seasons in the CFL.
The 32-year-old spent the 2025 season with the Calgary Stampeders, making 50 receptions for 886 yards and six touchdowns over 17 regular-season games. He recently became a free agent.
“After nearly a decade in the CFL, I’m officially hanging up the cleats. From my first snap in Little league to every touchdown I’ve ever scored, this game has given me more than I could ever put into words,” Rhymes wrote in a statement.
“To my teammates in Ottawa, B.C., and Calgary: thank you for the brotherhood. There is nothing like the bond built in the trenches and the locker room. To the fans: thank you for the energy and the passion. Whether I was wearing orange, red, or black, it was an honor to play in-front of y’all.
“Football was the dream of a lifetime. Thank you, CFL, for everything.”
The native of Miami, Fla. played 110 regular-season games as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks, B.C. Lions, and Calgary Stampeders, catching 372 passes for 5,822 yards and 32 touchdowns. He best season came in 2022 when he made 85 receptions for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns with B.C. to earn an All-CFL selection.
The six-foot-four, 215-pound target played collegiately at Florida International University and Murray State University.
