Cameron Menzies launched a series of punches at a table after crashing out of the World Darts Championship this afternoon.
Menzies, the 26th seed, lost 3-2 in the first round to Charlie Manby and showed his frustration by lashing out at the table used by the players to hold their darts and a drink.
Menzies then appeared to have a verbal spat with the referee after being urged to leave the stage with a nasty cut on his right hand.
Menzies apologises to the crowd
The Alexandra Palace crowd were unimpressed and loud boos were audible, prompting Menzies to hold up his hand in apology.
The Scot had led 1-0 and 2-1 but was unable to hold off highly rated young Englishman Manby, who sealed his spot in round two with his seventh match dart.
“It wasn’t the ending we all want to see,” said Sky Sports commentator Glen Durrant. “For Cameron Menzies, I think he will regret that for the rest of his life. It was not a good watch.”
Co-commentator Stuart Pyke added: “I agree, [it was] an extraordinary reaction but we saw him walking off stage and he did put up his hand in apology. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing.”
