Fans have seen the Robertson family go through a lot in recent years, from their revival series to the death of beloved family patriarch Phil Robertson. Recently, Willie Robertson opened up about how his mother has been handling this loss months later. He also shared a touching way that she copes with losing Phil.

Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson Passed Away In May 2025

Viewers became introduced to the Robertson family through the A&E reality series, Duck Dynasty, which originally ran from 2012 to 2017. The show revolved around the Duck Commander duck-hunting business, which was founded by family patriarch Phil Robertson.

Tragically, Phil passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 79. This followed him being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease the previous year. However, no cause of death was publicly shared at the time.

Fans recently saw the family return with Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which explores the family’s further lives in Louisiana. The series also released a tribute episode to Phil on March 7, which even documented a memorial service as the family gathered together.

At the time of Phil’s death, he had been married to his wife, Miss Kay, for around 61 years. The loss understandably took its toll on her, especially as she was also dealing with health issues, which the family had previously shared.

Since then, the couple’s son Willie spoke about how his mother was handling the loss 10 months later. Speaking with TV Insider, he shared that Miss Kay was “doing really good.”

Willie Also Talked About A Recent Ice Storm That The Family Endured, Which Led To A Touching Share

Willie continued, “We’re so excited and proud of her journey and where she’s been. I think she was pretty much depressed after Phil passed away. They’ve been together since they were teenagers, so I think it was a struggle for her to move through that, but I’m happy to say she’s doing great.”

Earlier this year, members of the family lost power for several days during an ice storm. Willie then spent time at Miss Kay’s house to keep an eye on things. As he teased, “She was bossing me around,” saying she appeared to be in good spirits. He even noted that, after checking on her after the lights went back on, he found her watching DVDs, with her telling him to be quiet.

However, Willie shared that these could have a deeper meaning, noting how much his mother enjoys going down “memory lane.” She does this by watching old episodes of Duck Dynasty.

As the outlet noted, Willie shared, “Every time I went over there, it was funny. She was watching us on TV. I think that was helpful to her, to have those great memories.” His wife, Korie Robertson, added, “It is really sweet for her to have all of those to go back and watch. She loves it.”
