Get rich or try lying as Studiocanal UK unearth the first Trailer for California Schemin’. James McAvoy‘s directorial feature debut seems to have ‘Dundee calling’
Everyone has a dream to become big and you have to start somewhere. Scottish actor McAvoy is kicking off his directorial path and the boys in his film want to be hip hop stars. This is based on a true story and I can’t remember this fascinating story, I live about 90 minutes drive from Dundee.
California Schemin’ stars Samuel Bottomley and Séamus McLean Ross are our wannabe MC’s. They have a big dream of becoming big names in hip hop and they have a plan. To get the record deal to lead them to stardom they pretend to be Californian Hip Hop MCs. As the stardom arrives the lies that got them there put pressure on them.
The film debuted at Toronto Film Festival and so far the reviews have been fairly positive. One for for those folks who like the underdog story, as well as a redemptive story.
James McAvoy also stars in his own film along with Lucy Halliday, and Rebekah Murrell.
