One of the professional dancers from Dancing with the Stars recently made an emotional share on social media. They were discussing a tragedy that hit close to home. This also comes out as updates have been shared concerning the recent tragedy.

One ‘DWTS’ Pro Recently Shared An Emotional Instagram Story Post

Dancing with the Stars recently returned for its 34th season. Wrapping up on December 2, 2025, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson finished as the celebrity and professional winners, respectively.

Even when each season comes to an end, fans have been following updates from the show’s various dancers on social media. Recently, one of the series’ alumni had an emotional post to share with followers.

Sharna Burgess, who joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in Season 13 and last appeared in Season 30, recently discussed the mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia during an Instagram Story. Burgess was born in New South Wales, Australia, before later moving to Los Angeles around 2011.

Sharna Burgess Wrote, ‘This Is Not The Aussie Way’

On the post, shared on December 14, Burgess wrote, “My heart is absolutely shattered to read about the mass shooting on Bondi Beach. A place I love so deeply that I’ve always felt safe in, that I’ve always felt proud of. This news doesn’t read like that of my home country, it reads like the devastation I see constantly here in America and that breaks my heart even further.”

Burgess continued, “This is not the Aussie way, this is not who we are as a people. Guns? Mass shootings? When did we fall so far. My love, my tears, my anger, my rage, and my deepest condolences are for all my fellow Australians who lost someone, who have someone fighting for their life, who have been hurt and ALL who have been affected. No words will make it better, but know my heart is with you.”

In addition to being a New South Wales native, as noted by Parade, Burgess is known to spend a good amount of time in Australia. She also travels there annually to host Dancing with the Stars Australia.

According to NBC News, 15 people were killed in the shooting. Another 40 were injured. It is believed that a father and son opened fire during the shooting on December 14.

The Australian Prime Minister Has Also Made A Statement Following The Shooting

The 50-year-old father was also fatally shot by police, with his 24-year-old son being hospitalized with critical injuries. The son may now face criminal charges.

According to the outlet, authorities believe the shooting was a terrorist event meant to target Jewish people during the start of the Hanukkah holiday. In a statement, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese asked, “I would urge and join with others who have urged Australians across the country to light a candle to show that light will indeed defeat darkness.”
