Emma Mackey is in early talks to star opposite Molly Gordon in the upcoming A24 comedy Peaked. The project marks Gordon’s second feature as a director following the success of Theater Camp, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing comedy titles in development. Gordon is set to direct, co-write, and star in the film, continuing her multi-hyphenate run in the indie space.
Peaked centres on two former high school rivals who reconnect ten years after graduation and decide to attend their reunion together, confronting the gap between who they were and who they’ve become. The premise leans into nostalgia while also poking fun at the pressure to have life figured out by a certain age. Gordon co-wrote the script with Allie Levitan, and the film is being developed under the A24 banner, a studio known for championing distinctive, creator-driven projects.
Mackey’s potential involvement adds another layer of excitement. Best known for her breakout role as Maeve Wiley on Sex Education, she has steadily expanded her range with a mix of independent films and high-profile studio projects. Her recent and upcoming work reflects a deliberate move toward varied, character-driven roles, making Peaked a natural fit.
Gordon, meanwhile, continues to balance acting with writing and directing, carving out a distinct voice that blends heartfelt comedy with sharp observations. While details about production and release timing remain under wraps, Peaked is already generating buzz thanks to its creative team and potential casting. If Mackey officially signs on, the film could become one of A24’s most talked-about comedies in the near future.
