The News Anchor Had A ‘Personal’ Share For Fans On Social Media
The news anchor recently claimed that the week of March 1 would be their last with the network. Moreover, they announced their departure from the network on Facebook.
During their time with the network, the anchor had won over many viewers. In fact, their work was celebrated at the Southeast Emmy Awards for “Best Daytime Newscast.” They also presented a few awards at the event.
The anchor was Megan Scarano, who worked as a weekend news anchor for an ABC News affiliate, ABC 33/40, in Birmingham, Alabama. She had been with the station for around three years, winning her Emmy in 2025, when she recently shared “personal news” on Facebook.
In the post, Scarano shared, “For the last three years, I’ve spent every weekend working to bring you the best weekend newscast. I truly hope we delivered. I’m proud of what we’ve built with the weekend team. We brought home an Emmy together, and that is a moment I will always cherish because we did it together.”
During her three years with the network, Scarano shared that her time with the network really helped her develop her skills as a newscaster. She felt that, during her work, “Every newscast and story was as important as the last.”

Scarano also thanked her mentors at the network, saying that she “learned from the best here.” Ultimately, she added, “Thank you, Alabama, for welcoming me.”
The news anchor did not share what she had planned next following her recent exit. However, she hinted that she would still work in the media. As she continued, “I love this work. I have no intention of doing anything else. It’s time for me to focus on my next steps!” She also told fans to “stay tuned.”
Other ABC News alumni commended Scarano since her recent post. ABC 33/40 investigative news reporter Valerie Bell wrote, “Megs— you’ve been a true asset to our team here! I know you will continue to do great things and tell the stories that matter! Thanks for coming to Alabama.”
With the post being shared on social media, fans also shared their well-wishes with Scarano since she broke the news. Many have noted that they watched her as a newscaster and expressed the hope that her next steps will work out for her. Some comments included:
