Dane delivers his speech in the video through direct and clear communication despite his struggle to speak. “Billy and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried. I stumbled them times, but I tried,” he begins. He describes his daughters as “water babies” while he remembers family vacations to Malibu and Santa Monica and Hawaii and Mexico. His message centers on a lesson which he achieved through difficult times. “First, live now, right now in the present,” he urges them. He admits to spending years lost in worry and regret. “I replayed suggestions, second guessed mates… No more.”

The personal farewell has caused viewers to experience strong emotional responses. The message affected many viewers because it delivered an extremely powerful emotional impact. “This broke me,” wrote one user. “A dad using his last strength to tell his girls ‘Live now, no more replaying regrets.’ That’s the kind of father every child deserves.” Another simply stated, “That hits different when it’s for your kids.”

Dane recorded the documentary in secret because he knew it would be shown after his death. The fans received a deeper emotional response to the videos because of this context. “Seeing Eric Dane leave a final message for his daughters in a posthumous documentary hits differently,” a comment read. “No fame, no roles, just a father wanting his words to last.”
