Even Realities is releasing the second generation of its smart glasses, and this time, they can be paired with an all-new smart ring.
The Even G2 display smart glasses, the more refined version of the G1, feature an updated version of the company’s HAO optical engine that still displays text in bright green, with greater depth and sharpness. Even Realities also says that the new glasses can display pop-ups such as AI prompts or push notifications. However, the new HAO optical engine will display notifications at a different depth than the rest of the screen, but the text will still only be in green.
The G2’s prescription range has also been increased, with the glasses now supporting anything from -12 to +12. The actual frames themselves have also been improved, with Even Realities noting that the G2 has 54 per cent slimmer frames and is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance.
Moving on to the largest change, the G2 smart glasses are now compatible with the company’s new R1 Smart Ring. Made from ceramic and medical-grade stainless steel, it sports a flat touchpad on one side for interacting with the G2’s interface. The R1 also sports an optical heart rate sensor and an accelerometer for tracking heart rate and steps- viewable from the G2 smart glasses.
The glasses will also get a new AI feature called “Conversate,” which will attempt to offer AI-generated information during conversations. According to Even Realities, Conversate will explain, provide context, add follow-up questions, and generate a summary and key points once you have finished talking.
More and more major companies are entering the smart glasses market, with Meta lending its smart glasses technology to brands like Oakley, Ray-Ban, and even Apple, which has pivoted away from a lighter version of the Vision Pro to develop its own smart glasses.
