The January transfer window is barrelling towards the 7pm deadline, but there are still plenty of deals to be done before the market slams shut on Monday evening.

It has been a largely quiet winter window compared to previous years, but a number of clubs are expected to move for last-minute signings as they look to cover injury concerns or reinforce their squad for a gruelling second half of the campaign.

The Premier League is expected to be a busy market in the remaining hours, with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal all monitoring potential opportunities.

You can keep up to date with all of the last-minute deals and big stories of the day right here on 101greatgoals.

Liverpool closing in on defender Jacquet

Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet is set to undergo a medical with Liverpool ahead of a proposed £60m move, although the centre-back would not join the club until the summer.

The two clubs have reached an agreement in principle on a deal worth £55m plus £5m in add-ons. If completed, the 20-year-old would sign a five-year contract at Anfield running until the summer of 2031, with the option of a further year.

🚨💣 BREAKING: Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool, here we go! Deal agreed now for June 2026, as revealed.

Jacquet, a France Under-21 international, has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Chelsea are known to have held talks with the defender during the winter transfer window but are not expected to match Liverpool’s offer.

Liverpool are keen to strengthen their centre-back options, particularly with Ibrahima Konate’s contract due to expire at the end of the current season. The Reds missed out on Marc Guehi last summer, with the England international instead completing a move to Manchester City in January.

Jacquet is a product of Rennes’ academy and has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season. His consistent performances have elevated his profile and made him one of the most sought-after young defenders in European football.

Fulham reject Everton bid for Wilson

Fulham have rejected an approach from Everton for midfielder Harry Wilson.

The Toffees made an enquiry for the 28-year-old last week but were knocked back by Fulham, who are unwilling to sanction a sale during the January transfer window.

Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season and would be free to leave in the summer, but head coach Marco Silva has made clear there is “zero chance” of the Wales international departing this month.

Instead, Fulham have prioritised attempts to secure Wilson’s long-term future at Craven Cottage. He initially joined the club on loan from Liverpool in July 2021 before making the move permanent.

Since arriving, Wilson has made 173 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals and providing 43 assists.

However, as previously reported, discussions over a new contract are currently on hold due to external transfer interest. It is also understood Wilson would like greater clarity over Silva’s own future, with the Fulham manager also out of contract this summer, before committing to a new deal.

Wolves agree £48m deal with Crystal Palace for Strand Larsen

Wolves have accepted a revised offer worth £48m from Crystal Palace for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The two clubs had reached an agreement in principle last week over a £50m deal that would have seen the Norway international move to Selhurst Park, with Wolves indicating they were prepared to proceed once a formal bid was submitted.

However, as previously reported, Palace did not lodge a written offer at that valuation and instead signalled their intention to step back from the deal, putting the transfer at risk.

Sources indicate Palace’s hesitation was driven by concerns over the overall cost of the move rather than any doubts about the player himself.

Mateta’s AC Milan move expected to accelerate

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s proposed move to AC Milan is expected to gather pace following Crystal Palace’s imminent agreement to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves.

The 28-year-old has made it clear he wants to leave Selhurst Park for the San Siro, but Palace have been reluctant to sanction his departure without first lining up a replacement.

With Strand Larsen now set to arrive, sources indicate Palace are increasingly open to allowing Mateta to leave during this window, provided they receive a fee in the region of £35m to £40m.

It remains unclear whether Milan are prepared to meet that valuation. The Serie A side are understood to favour a deal closer to £30m plus add-ons, which would still fall short of Palace’s current asking price.

Nottingham Forest saw a £35m bid for Mateta rejected last weekend, though the France international remains focused on securing a move to Milan.

Tonali not for sale amid Arsenal interest

Newcastle United have made it clear that midfielder Sandro Tonali is not for sale.

Reports had suggested Arsenal were considering a late move for the Italy international ahead of the transfer deadline.

However, it is understood from Newcastle’s side that no formal approach has been made and the club have no intention of sanctioning Tonali’s departure.

Everton close in on Chelsea’s George

🔵🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Tyrique George to Everton, here we go! Deal in place after official bid sent yesterday as exclusively revealed.

Everton are closing in on the signing of Chelsea winger Tyrique George on an initial loan deal that includes an option to buy.

The England Under-21 international is travelling to Merseyside to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed deadline-day move.

George has attracted interest from another Premier League side as well as a club in Europe, but Everton have moved quickly to progress negotiations.

Chelsea have been open to selling the 19-year-old since last summer due to his limited first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Fulham agreed a £22m deal to sign the academy graduate during the summer window, but later withdrew their interest to pursue alternative winger targets in Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze.

Everton’s move for George comes with Jack Grealish facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The England forward, currently on loan from Manchester City, is likely to require surgery on a fractured foot and is expected to miss the rest of the season, according to manager David Moyes.

George has scored six goals and registered six assists in 37 appearances since breaking into Chelsea’s first team last season.
