Rogers-owned Fido and Telus-owned Koodo have rolled out new plans matching deals launched by Bell’s Virgin Plus on Dec. 11. (That didn’t take long!)
Yesterday, Virgin added additional $10/mo discounts to some of its plans, created $40/50GB and $45/70GB options. Now the other providers have similar offers, with some key differences.
Fido
Fido plans as of Dec. 12, 2025.
Let’s start with Fido, which has the following plan options for bring-your-own-phone customers:
- $40/40GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 500 international minutes (includes $10/mo credit).
- $45/10GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 500 international minutes.
- $45/60GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 1,000 international minutes (includes $10/mo credit).
Like Virgin, Fido slapped a $10/mo discount onto some of its plans, in addition to the existing 10GB data bonuses and the $15/mo automatic payments discount. Notably, Fido’s plans only offer 4G data (capped at up to 150Mbps speeds) just like Virgin. Fido’s plans also include unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting, standard add-ons like voicemail, and a free hotspot add-on after Fido made hotspotting a paid feature earlier this year.
Koodo
Koodo plans as of Dec. 12, 2025.
Moving on to Koodo, it has the following plans:
- $40/40GB 5G + 10GB bonus.
- $45/60GB 5G + 10GB bonus.
- $75/100GB 5G.
Koodo’s plans include 5G data with speeds up to 250Mbps, setting its plans apart from Fido and Virgin. Another notable difference is that Koodo offers customers a free perk of their choice with their plan, with options like premium voicemail, rollover data, a 5G speed boost, and more. That 5G speed boost doubles speed to 500Mbps, making Koodo’s plans significantly better than the others (though if 250Mbps is fast enough for you, you have the flexibility to choose another perk).
Koodo’s plans also include unlimited Canada-wide minutes and unlimited international texting — like Virgin’s plans — and include a $10/mo autopay discount.
Of the three, I think Koodo’s plans offer the best value. That said, there are better options out there. Freedom Mobile, for example, just rolled out Boxing Week deals like a $39/70GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan. That’s a better value than anything detailed above — if you live in an area where you can get a Freedom plan, it’s probably the best option right now.
