We now know the final four teams at the 2026 Montana’s Brier in St. John’s, Newfoundland. On Friday at Mary Brown’s Centre, the field was cut by two teams.
The final four teams are St. John’s, Newfoundland’s Brad Gushue (the hometown team), Team Canada’s Brad Jacobs, Alberta’s Kevin Koe and Manitoba’s Matt Dunstone. Gushue and Jacobs are Olympic gold medalists. Gushue won the gold medal at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. Jacobs won the gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Friday’s playoff games began with the Page 1-2 qualifiers. It should be noted that the losers of these two games were not eliminated. Dunstone defeated Gushue 7-5 and Koe defeated Jacobs 7-4. With the wins, Dunstone and Koe advanced to the 1-2 game. That will take place at 4 pm MT on Saturday.
Gushue and Jacobs then played in the 3-4 qualifier games against the third place teams in each pool. They were Jayden King of Ontario from Pool A and Braden Calvert of Manitoba from Pool B. The wins by Gushue and Jacobs were rather convincing, as Gushue beat King 12-6 and Jacobs beat Calvert 7-3. Gushue will next play Jacobs in the 3-4 elimination game on Saturday at 10 am MT.
