The “Finalissima” match between Spain and Argentina set for Doha later this month is in doubt.

The match, between the winners of Euro 2024 and the Copa America, was first played in 2022 and is due to take place on Friday, 27 March.

However, the Qatar Football Association has suspended matches indefinitely following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and retaliatory missiles fired across the Arabian Peninsula.

“Qatar Football Association announces the postponement of all tournaments, competitions and matches, effective from today and until further notice,” the FA said in a statement on Sunday.

“The new dates for the resumption of competitions will be announced in due course through the Association’s official channels.”

The final call on whether to postpone the game rests with Uefa and Conmebol – the governing bodies for Europe and South America.

Lionel Messi may miss out on the match against Spain, while Cristiano Ronaldo is also affected.

The Asian Football Confederation has announced it is postponing Champions League fixtures in the region, with Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr due to face Emirati outfit Al-Wasl in Dubai.
