It looks like Apple’s first iPhone foldable will be quite impressive, according to the Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station. The leak indicates that the upcoming book-style foldable from Apple will have a dual-layer ultra-thin glass structure to decrease crease visibility.

The book-style foldable sports two layers of ultra-thin (UTG) or ultra-thin flexible glass with a display in between them, preventing it from coming into contact with the hinge. The leak indicates that Apple’s display will spread the stress across multiple layers instead of concentrating the stress on a single layer to improve durability and reduce crease visibility.

Most foldables use a single UTG layer, which must handle the bending and protect the flexible panel underneath. Apple’s technique will reportedly make the screen nearly imperceptible; however, the handset won’t be completely crease-free, according to recent claims.

Additionally, the foldable iPhone may not launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and release close to December instead. Further rumours suggest the device sports a 5.3-to 5.5-inch outer screen with a 7.8-inch inner display. The smartphone is rumoured to use liquid metal hinges alongside the double-layered display panels. The phone may also feature Touch ID on the side.
