Many figures have made headlines speaking about current events, especially in regard to President Donald Trump. Recently, Pete Buttigieg had a few words concerning current events when appearing on a Fox News show. At the time, he also had a few choice words concerning the hostâs claims.

Buttigieg is an American former naval officer, activist, and politician who served as the 19th United States Secretary of Transportation, from 2021 to 2025. He previously served as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.
Over the years, Buttigieg has shown presidential ambitions. He previously ran in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries. He was also reportedly considered as a possible running mate for Kamala Harris during her 2024 presidential campaign, though Tim Walz was ultimately picked for the position.
Recently, Buttigieg made an appearance on Fox Newsâ Saturday in America. At the time, he disagreed with host Kayleigh McEnanyâs claim that the American people are standing with President Trump concerning current deportation forces.
At the time, Buttigieg argued that Americans feel that âWe need a different directionâ on deportation tactics. This was in light of the recent shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good by federal agents in Minneapolis this month.
McEnany shared, âItâs a tragedy any time an American citizen dies, absolutely.â However, she felt, âBut at the same time, Americans clearly called for immigration enforcement.â

McEnany then asked Buttigieg what the response was to people in his party over people calling to abolish ICE. She continued, ââCause that is not where the American people stand.â
For his part, Buttigieg responded, âYeah, I think Americans want and expect that weâll have a secure border, understand that we have immigration laws, and that those immigration laws have to be enforced. But what weâre seeing is not that.â
Buttigieg claimed that some of these law enforcers were found to have violated court orders. He also claimed that they were going after people who were ânotâ those that everyone agrees needed to be deported, such as those with a criminal record.
Ultimately, Buttigieg claimed that those who followed âthe rulesâ were the ones who found themselves incarcerated. He touched on images about children with Spiderman backpacks being incarcerated and agents seen filmed with more gear than he had when he was in Afghanistan. He continued, âI think most people get that is wrong. It is not making us safer.â
