When Gerry Turner was on The Golden Bachelor, he spoke about his desire to travel after retiring from the restaurant industry. His wanderlust reportedly played a role in his divorce from Theresa Nist, who didn’t want to leave her job or home in New Jersey.
The ABC reality star revealed in December 2024 that he was diagnosed with an incurable bone-marrow cancer. He just checked another item off his bucket list. Where did he go now?
Gerry Turner Gives Update On Health Amid Terminal Cancer
Gerry Turner was optimistic about his cancer diagnosis. While the bone-marrow cancer is terminal, he said that he expects to die from something else before the cancer gets him. He’s been advocating for the Lymphoma Research Foundation in the hope of finding a cure.
He encouraged his social media followers earlier this week to donate to the foundation on National Lymphoma Giving Day. He gave a small update about his health when he called himself a “survivor” of the cancer.

Gerry Turner has moved on from his marriage to Theresa Nist. He went public with a new relationship earlier this year. His girlfriend, Lana, has been by his side amid his cancer battle and bucket list travel expeditions.
The couple recently went to one of the most popular tourist attractions in North America: Niagara Falls. Gerry and his girlfriend visited the Canadian side, which is even more stunning than the U.S. side.

He shared snapshots from the trip on Instagram with the caption, “Was able to cross off a huge bucket list trip this week! Lana and I thoroughly enjoyed the majesty and raw power of Niagara Falls and all it’s peripheral attractions. Oh, Canada!”
Their adventures included one of the boat rides that takes passengers under the Falls.

Season 2 Coming Soon
Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor had a happy ending that ended in divorce. Fans of the franchise weren’t sure if the network would give the show another chance but they did.
Season 2 of the reality dating show returns this week. Former NFL player Mel Owens, 66, looks for love again after getting divorced a few years ago. His season is already full of drama after his controversial comments about limiting the contestants to women between the ages of 45 and 60.
Gerry Turner called the age limits a “mistake” and suggested he reconsidered. It seems Mel Owens took the advice and loosened the requirements for his prospective partners. The youngest contestant on Season 2 is 58, and the oldest is 77. One contestant, Andra, is the twin sister of Sandra Mason from Gerry’s season.
A new season of The Golden Bachelor premieres on ABC on Wednesday, September 24, at 8 PM Eastern. The show moves to the 9 PM Wednesday timeslot for the rest of the season.
