Over the last few days, several Canadian wireless providers launched 60GB plans with Canada/U.S./Mexico usage, closing in on a similar offer Freedom Mobile has had for months. Except, Freedom has just upped the ante with its latest flash sale.
Until Jan. 26, Freedom is offering 10GB of bonus data on its $39/60GB plan, bringing the total data allotment up to 70GB. Along with the extra data, the plan continues to include North American usage, unlimited talk and text, and Roam Beyond with a one-time allotment of 5GB of roaming data for use in over 120 destinations.
Before the added bonus data, Freedom’s $39/60GB was already better than the other providers, but this change seals the deal. Coupled with Freedom’s price freeze promise, and customers shouldn’t have much to worry about.

For added context, Bell-owned Virgin Plus and Rogers-owned Fido rolled out new 60GB plans with North American usage. Virgin’s plan was initially priced at $50, but later dropped to $49 to match Fido. Also of note, neither provider offers 5G data like Freedom, and in some cases, other limitations — for example, Fido now offers hotspot access as a paid add-on instead of including it like other providers.
Telus-owned Koodo, similarly, launched a $50/60GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan alongside other discounts. Koodo at least offers 5G data, narrowing the gap between it and Freedom, but it’s still more expensive. Koodo isn’t even the best option from the Telus brand — fellow Telus subsidiary Public Mobile has a $40/60GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan with 5G data, so if you want Freedom prices on the Telus network, Public is the way to go.
All that said, if you can go with Freedom, it remains the best value option overall, especially with the 10GB bonus data. You can learn more on Freedom’s website.
