PARIS — Giambattista Valli has withdrawn from the Paris Fashion Week calendar and will not show as planned on March 6, prompting further questions about its financial situation after pulling out of Haute Couture Week in January.
The Italian couturier’s namesake house, controlled by Pinault family investment fund Artémis, referred requests for comment to its majority shareholder. Artémis declined to comment.
The fashion house in January cited a review of the business as the reason for the cancellation, which came amid reports of financial struggles and a search for a new investor.
The Paris-based brand, founded in 2005 by Valli, has been majority owned since 2021 by Artémis, which made a minority investment in the label in 2017 before increasing its stake.
Valli is known for his feminine approach to both ready-to-wear and red carpet styles, and has dressed celebrities like Ariana Grande in airy, voluminous gowns made from piles of tulle.
The designer is one of a small number of non-French designers admitted to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. He showed his first couture collection on the official Paris calendar in 2011 and was named officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2025.
