Earlier this month, it was reported that Good Morning America‘s Lara Spencer recently endured a tragic loss within her family. Recently stepping away from the show, viewers recently saw her make a return. This also comes out after she shared a social media post alongside another Good Morning America teammate.
Lara Spencer Joined Good Morning America Around 1999
Originally from New York, Spencer has worked for a number of prominent networks. She started her career as part of the NBC page program. She also worked with CBS and ABC news affiliates throughout the country.
However, many know Spencer best for her work with Good Morning America. She first joined the show as a national correspondent in 1999.
Recently, on social media, Spencer had tragic news to share with followers on social media on February 16. Her mother, Carolyn von Seelen, had passed away following a battle with cancer.
Since then, Spencer has recently returned to Good Morning America. Spencer has been absent from the ABC morning show since announcing the sad news. However, she made a brief appearance on the program during this past Tuesday’s episode to debut the trailer for her new home design competition series, That Thrifting Show.
The date of Spencer’s official return to the show hasn’t been confirmed. However, she recently celebrated her brief return and her colleagues in a recent post on Instagram.
Spencer Recently Appeared In A Photo Carousel With Another Good Morning America Alum
Spencer shared a carousel post where she appeared alongside Sam Champion during a montage of behind-the-scenes photos in Florida. In a caption, she wrote, “Finally coming out of the fog of grief and so grateful to my GMA family-making me feel warm and loved-even in 42 degrees temps in Florida. No one I would rather be stranded with than this guy.”
Continuing to thank the Good Morning America staff, Spencer finished her post by sharing, “Thank you, GMA family. I love you.” For his part, Champion assured her that the feeling was mutual. As a comment, he wrote, “The BEST time with you always.”
Taking to the comments, fans also shared their reactions to the post. While many were happy to see Spencer in good spirits, they also paid their tributes to her mother. A few also expressed their hope that they would soon see her official return to GMA. Some comments included:
- “The loss of your mom will be a lingering fog for a while, lost mine in 2023. Given how close you were, the memories and love will continue to support you. Your GMA fans and family always there. May her memory always be a blessing.”
