Gold Rush Star Suffers Unexpected Setback Amid Bad News
The March 27 episode of Gold Rush centered on three main storylines involving Parker Schnabel and Tony and Kevin Beets. Parker Schnabel again found himself falling behind his ambitious goal after weeks of declining gold totals. He invested in a $1 million last-ditch solution: a new wash plant named the “Golden Goose.”
His team worked quickly to get the machine up and running, but hit a snag with a blockage. The issue was quickly resolved. Despite the “Golden Goose” not running long enough to bring in any gold, Parker Schnabel was able to bring in $1.5 million. “I do think we have a real shot of making this happen,” he said.
Tony Beets, however, got some bad news and suffered an unexpected setback. He already amassed over $23 million in gold so far, but wasn’t done yet. Even though it was risky, he made the bold move of purchasing the “Wounded Moose” claim for $4 million. But there was a catch.
His wife, Minnie, discovered that the water license for the new claim is no good. It was never properly transferred, putting the mining on hold. Despite the setback, Tony Beets’ other sites brought in $2.5 million, bringing his total to $26 million.
Fans Call Out ‘Manufactured’ Drama
Gold Rush viewers had a difficult time believing that veteran miner Tony Beets didn’t know about the water license. Fans of the show took to Reddit to blast the “manufactured” drama.
- “How do you buy a claim for 4 million and not know when the license expires. Show glosses it over. About 10 of the 213 claims has a license that expires in a year or 2. Since been transferred to Tony. The others have not had a license in years.Tony had to know that. An idiot on the other side of the country, me, knew that.”
- “Water is Tony’s kryptonite. The Moose claim will be a forgotten memory along with the dredges”
- “The manufactured drama is just ridiculous at this point. They literally act like they wouldn’t know about the status of the water license. Then they use a bogus wash plant move to the new claim as episode filler”
The last episode heavily featured Parker Schnabel and the Beets. Fans hope to see more of Rick Ness in the last two episodes of Season 16. Gold Rush airs Fridays on Discovery.
