Google is now rolling out a fix for the Pixel Watch that should address inflated step counts.
Essentially, when Google rolled out the March 2026 Pixel Drop, Pixel Watch users began noticing that the Fitbit app was overestimating their activity, with users reporting their daily totals skyrocketing.
Good news, though, a moderator on the Fitbit forum confirmed that the team has “found the cause of the issue and are currently fixing it.” The moderator also noted that personalized calorie counts should now be working properly, although some users may still encounter error messages when creating or updating a food plan. According to 9to5Google, Google, expects to have the remaining issues resolved within the next few days.
As mentioned earlier, the overcounting steps issue has now been resolved. However, as noted on the Fitbit status dashboard, the fix will only apply to new activity. Unfortunately, already inflated step counts will persist, so if you rely on the health-tracking data, you will have to ignore this past week’s data.
If you are still experiencing the inaccurate step count issue, Google recommends restarting your watch.
