Google has announced a new Extended Repair Program for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, after confirming that a limited number of devices have display issues. The company is also rolling out a program for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
However, Google didn’t specify what’s wrong with the devices beyond “issues that affect the functionality of the device,” per The Verge.
According to a support page on Google’s website, the tech giant will repair both Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL devices that are experiencing a vertical line or display flickering. While both models are covered for three years after the original purchase date, Google notes that devices with a cracked screen or liquid damage may be deemed ineligible for the free repair.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is facing a similar issue, according to a separate support page on Google’s website. However, instead of repairing devices like the company is doing for the 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, Google is outright replacing them if they are eligible. Like other devices, cracked displays or liquid damage may deem the device ineligible.
9to5Google notes that the issue with the Fold may be screen-related as well, given that the bottom of the page includes an FAQ for users who paid for a Pixel 9 Pro Fold screen replacement before Dec. 8.
If you are experiencing this issue, you can take your device to an authorized repair centre (in Canada, that would be Mobile Klinik), where a technician will examine the device to verify eligibility.
