Thanks to everyone who filled out our “Hey, Canada, what smartphone do you use?” survey. We had more than 2,000 people submit responses.
Our survey revealed some things about Canada’s smartphone usage. Only one person who filled out the survey has a Blackberry device, which makes sense considering it’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Blackberry, but it still breaks my Canadian heart. It was the BlackBerry Key2 specifically, which isn’t even made by BlackBerry. 😭
Google takes this one, with nearly 585 owning Pixel devices. 69 (nice) had some sort of Pixel 10 (10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro Fold), while 155 had some sort of Pixel 9 (9, 9a, 9 Pro, 9 Fold), and more than 185 had a Pixel 8. With specifically 18 owning a Pixel 8a, 46 having the 8 Pro, and 122 owning specifically the Pixel 8 — the winner.
About 550 people who filled out the survey revealed that they have iPhones. The oldest iPhone on the list was the iPhone 5, owned by only one person. The most popular iPhone is the 15 Pro series, but the 16 Pro had nearly similar results. Surprisingly, 15 people already have the iPhone Air, and another 84 have the 17 and 17 Pros. Interestingly, one person said they had both the 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and that’s a bit much if they paid for both phones.
Samsung had pretty good results with nearly 550 people who filled out the survey owning a Samsung device. With about 120 people saying they own a S24 series device, another 120 owning an S25, 50 owning flip devices and another 50 owning folds. Surprisingly, there are some Note handsets on the list, and about 40 people with A series devices.
Other devices on the list include Motorola (with the Razr being at the top of the list), OnePlus was on the list with the OnePlus 12 being at the top of its list.
It was interesting to see some brands like Ulefone, Umidigi, Realme, Poco, Doogee, Xiaomi that aren’t often available in Canada, and cool to see people repping phones that haven’t come to Canada in years, like from Sony, Huawei, someone even had an LG Velvet.
Specifically, 2,173 people entered our survey; however, not everyone completed it. Further, some results didn’t offer enough information, like ones that only said “Samsung.” This survey was available on MobileSyrup and Daily Hive since October 21, 2025.
