Google’s annual I/O developer conference will take place in late May this year.
The search giant officially unveiled the date for I/O 2026 after a bunch of people solved a puzzle on the I/O website.
This year’s puzzle features multiple “builds” and revolves around using Gemini, with some builds including a mini-golf game, a nonogram, and more.
Puzzles aside, Google typically uses its I/O event to show off a bunch of new software features, such as changes coming to Android or Google’s popular apps. In recent years, the show also heavily featured AI, and given the heavy inclusion of Gemini in this year’s puzzles, it’s probably a safe bet that this year will continue that trend.
Notably, last year, Google held a separate Android event ahead of I/O. It’s not clear whether the company will do something similar this year.
I/O typically kicks off with a major keynote on the first day, and is followed by tons of other sessions with more in-depth information, typically aimed at developers. The opening keynote and some of the sessions are usually streamed online for free.
As always, MobileSyrup will follow along with the announcements and cover the biggest news. I/O 2026 runs from May 19 to 20 — you can learn more, or register to attend, on Google’s I/O website.
