    Tecún Umán, Guatemala., Autoridades de salud del estado de Chiapas, México, y Guatemala presentaron la Estrategia Fronteriza de Prevención del Sarampión, que contempla acciones simultáneas en ambos lados de la frontera para interrumpir la cadena de transmisión del virus.

    Omar Gómez Cruz, secretario de Salud de Chiapas, dijo que con las brigadas y módulos para aplicar el biológico, barridos casa por casa y actividades de promoción de la salud se establece un cerco sanitario.

    “Estas acciones refuerzan la hermandad que hay entre la frontera de Guatemala y nosotros para que hagamos acciones en espejo y evitemos brotes explosivos de sarampión”, dijo el funcionario estatal durante la presentación.

    Sostuvo que en Chiapas se han aplicado más de un millón 200 mil vacunas, cuyas acciones de prevención han impedido que colapsen los servicios hospitalarios.

    “Aun cuando tenemos casos (621 confirmados desde que se inició el brote), está controlado y contenido”, afirmó.

    José Luis Alvarado Valenzuela, cónsul de México en Guatemala, destacó que desde hace varios meses las autoridades de ambos lados han estado alertas y han establecido medidas de prevención contra el sarampión, las cuales se refuerzan con la estrategia presentada este viernes.

    “Esta zona fronteriza es la de mayor intercambio entre los dos países. Hay una dinámica de ir y venir, hay una importante actividad de la población trasfronteriza que hay que cuidar”, comentó.

    Las autoridades detallaron que las acciones simultáneas contemplan la detección e identificación de casos, bloqueos sanitarios, barridos de salubridad, módulos de vacunación, promoción de la salud y vigilancia epidemiológica, tanto para la población residente como aquellas personas en contexto de movilidad.

    Durante la presentación de la estrategia participaron también los funcionarios guatemaltecos Rolando López Crisóstomo, gobernador del departamento (estado) de San Marcos; Elisa Barrios, funcionaria del ministerio de Salud, y Juan Pablo Velázquez, epidemiólogo.
