Guy Fieri has given his fans some relief by finally opening up about the struggles of his recent injury.

The Food Network icon had a scary fall from a flight of stairs while on set for his new series. The holidays looked different for him this year, as the fall has since left him confined in a wheelchair, altering his daily activities.

Guy Fieri cashed in on a three-year, $100M deal with the network, adding stars to his record as one of the highest-paid celebrity chefs on air. When he is not hosting any of his hit TV shows, he keeps busy running his business while still trying to stay active.

Fieri is a step closer to getting on his feet again. He revealed that he is doing better and can wait to get out of the wheelchair. These few weeks of immobility, especially with the holidays, made the celebrity chef reflect on the bliss of specific body abilities.

Fieri told PEOPLE, “It was definitely a trying holiday, but you know what, you get some real appreciation for having the ability to just get up and walk around and do everything you used to.”

Being heavy on fitness, he added that another difficult part of his current condition is the fact that he cannot hike, saying the mere thought is driving him crazy. In his words:

“Eight weeks of no hiking has driven me kind of crazy. But I’m looking forward to it, trying to take it easy.”

As he tries to take things easy, Fieri notes that the past eight weeks have not been a smooth ride, but he is looking forward to his full recovery.

The Food Network icon also spoke about his upcoming Super Bowl tailgate, “Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate,” Presented by SpotOn.

After describing his recent injury as the worst thing he’s ever experienced in 20 years,  he said that he would be ready to hit the ground running by the time of the Super Bowl, which comes within the first weeks of next month.

“That was the worst thing I’ve been through in the last 20 years, but now I’ll be up and ready and healthy and rolling by the time we hit the Super Bowl for sure,” Fieri said.

He added that the Flavortown Tailgate is set to be a fun family affair, as his sons, Hunter and Ryder, as well as his nephew Jules, would be available and featured.

Inside The TV Personality’s Scary Fall And Injury

Fieri was filming his new series “Flavor Town Food Fight” when he missed his step, causing his foot to get caught on the threshold, resulting in a brutal tear in his quad muscles.

The fall forced him into a split position, and the quad muscles located in front of his thigh suffered a brutal tear. “You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle, and it exploded,” the chef previously explained.

The Blast reports that the magnitude of his injury shocked his doctors. He underwent emergency surgery in November and was then confined to a wheelchair. The chef was advised to keep weight off the leg and would start physical therapy to speed up the healing process.

The Food Network Icon Landed Massive Deal For His Hit Shows

Fieri signed a three-year contract with Food Network in 2023, keeping his hit television shows, including “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and “Guy’s Grocery Games,” on air.

The food guru joined the network two decades ago when he won “The Next Food Network Star,” and continues to remain with them due to his incredible talent.

Besides his starship qualities in the kitchen, Fieri was recognised as a spectacular content creator who has won the hearts of viewers around the globe. Warner Bros. Discovery US Networks chairman and CEO Kathleen Finch previously affirmed the fact.

The Blast covered the story, reporting that his contract was valued at over $100M, maintaining his status as one of the highest-paid celebrity chefs on television.
