The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have promoted Jarryd Baines to the role of offensive coordinator.

The native of Ottawa, Ont. played collegiately at the University of Guelph before serving as a defensive quality control coach with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2015.

The 36-year-old joined the Tiger-Cats in 2016 and has steadily worked his way up the coaching staff, going from an offensive quality control coach to assistant receivers coach, receivers coach, running backs coach, pass game analyst, quarterbacks coach, and now offensive coordinator. He will remain the team’s quarterbacks coach as part of his new role.

“(Baines is) highly intelligent,” said head coach Scott Milanovich of Baines in 2024. “We see the game similarly. He’s got a lot to give, a lot to offer, loves the game, high energy, works his ass off every single day. He’s a rising star.”

Hamilton’s coaching staff for 2026 is now as follows, following the recent addition of Bob Dyce as special teams coordinator and assistant head coach. The role of offensive coordinator was previously held by Milanovich.

    Scott Milanovich – Head Coach
Bob Dyce – Special Teams Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach
    Brent Monson – Defensive Coordinator
Jarryd Baines – Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach
James Tuck – Co-Special Teams Coordinator
Brendan Walsh – Offensive Line Coach
    Naaman Roosevelt – Receivers Coach
Myer Spitulnik – Running Backs & Offensive Quality Control Coach
Casey Creehan – Defensive Line Coach
Brandon Isaac – Defensive Backs Coach
Elijah Sandweiss – Linebackers & Assistant Special Teams Coach

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
