The Cleveland Browns are signing Hamilton Tiger-Cats return specialist Isaiah Wooden Sr. to a futures contract, per his agent Ferrell Elliott.
The 25-year-old played 14 regular-season games with the Tiger-Cats in 2025, leading the CFL in punt return average (15.0) and finishing second in kickoff return average (26.3). He recorded 1,782 total return yards and three return touchdowns despite suffering an arm injury midway through the season.
The five-foot-nine, 170-pound speedster first signed with the B.C. Lions in 2024 and spent time on the team’s practice roster, though he was later released and signed in Hamilton. He reportedly ran a 4.38-second forty-yard dash at his pro day.
Wooden played his final two collegiate seasons at Southern Utah University, where he made 100 receptions for 1,726 yards and 20 touchdowns over two collegiate seasons. He also returned 14 kicks for 386 yards and was named first-team All-UAC in 2023.
The native of San Diego, Cal., began his career at Utah Tech, where he recorded 61 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, seven receptions for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and scored a kickoff return touchdown in nine games. He later transferred to Kent State, where he played three games and caught four passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Wooden signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and later spent training camp with the Los Angeles Chargers. He worked out for five NFL teams this offseason prior to signing, including the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, and Browns.
Had he not signed in the NFL, Wooden was slated to become a CFL free agent on February 10. Should he be released by the Browns, he will be eligible to sign with any team on either side of the border.
