The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are introducing an expanded fan zone at the north end of their home stadium.
Starting this season, the formerly-dubbed North End Patio will become The Porter Hangar, a two-level structure designed to create what the club calls an intimate, energetic atmosphere. It will provide weather-protected reserved seating and dedicated entry.
“At Hamilton Sports Group, we’re constantly evolving the live event experience for our fans and partners — from how people move through the stadium, to how they gather, interact, and experience the game,” said HSG president and CEO Matt Afinec in a statement.
“The Porter Hangar is a bold next step in that ongoing commitment. Porter has been an outstanding partner, and together we’re building something that enhances how fans experience football, while staying true to what makes Hamilton Stadium such a special place to watch live sports.”
The Tiger-Cats claim The Porter Hangar will provide “elevated economy environment that blends comfort, convenience, access, and social connection in a weather-protected end-zone setting.” It is expected to open by the team’s first preseason game, which is set for May 23, 2026.
The team also indicated that The Porter Hangar will be expanded for 2027 include a member-only field-level viewing area. This will presumably be made possible by the shortening of the field, a change the CFL announced in September and will go into effect after the 2027 season.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.
The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
