Check out all the goals and our match report from the FA Cup fifth-round clash…

West Ham sealed their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 5-3 win on penalties over Brentford after an entertaining 2-2 draw in normal time at the London Stadium.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen in both halves were twice cancelled out by goals from Thiago, the second coming in the final 10 minutes from time from the penalty spot to take the game to extra-time.

After a goalless extra-time period, West Ham scored with all five of the spotkicks emphatically, with Dango Ouattara the man to miss for the Bees with a failed panenka.

West Ham will face Leeds at home in the quarter-finals after the draw was made earlier on Monday.

West Ham vs Brentford as it happened

The hosts made a strong start and saw a couple of chances go begging when Bowen’s effort was deflected behind before Ollie Scarles fired over wastefully from 20 yards, with Jordan Henderson then doing the same for the visitors in a position where he should really have hit the target.

Michael Kayode was then denied from close range after a nice exchange involving Kevin Schade with Alphonse Areola getting down to make a good stop.

Bowen made the breakthrough on 19 minutes with Tomas Soucek rising highest to nod the ball down with the Hammers skipper poking the ball past Caoimhin Kelleher to put the hosts ahead.

But the Bees were level within 10 minutes when Nathan Collins’ header deflected in off Thiago, with the goal confirmed by VAR after a hint of handball by the Brazilian.

The officials in Stockley Park were kept busy when Adama Traore went down under the challenge of Kayode, with the penalty given after an on-pitch review. Up stepped Bowen, who stroked home the spotkick to restore West Ham’s lead.

West Ham started the second half strongly, with Bowen’s shot blocked by Nathan Collins and Schade’s header comfortably saved by Areola. Brentford appealed for a penalty after Dango Ouattara went down under pressure from Mayers, but it was one of several penalty shouts on the night which was waved away.

Crysencio Summerville, on for Traore, caused problems down the left and saw a deflected effort hit the top of the net, while Soucek’s low shot was blocked by Collins after a clever cross from Summerville.

Brentford finally got a penalty awarded in their favour in the final 10 minutes when a cross swung to the back post saw led Summerville to push Kayode in the air with the referee making no hesitation but to point to the spot.

That man Thiago was the man to do the honours for the Bees, with the prolific striker stuttering and wrongfooting Areola to find the net for his 20th goal of the season – a total only Erling Haaland of Manchester City can better among Premier League players.

Brentford seemed to take control of the game from that point and pushed for a late winner but West Ham managed to hold on to take the game to extra-time.

Very few chances came either side’s way with the best in the first half of extra-time perhaps coming to substitute Romelle Donovan, whose shot flew just over as he leant back to reach the pass.

Callum Wilson, barely 60 seconds after being introduced, forced a brilliant stop from Kelleher to keep the scores level after a deflection off one of his defenders.

There was time for a wonderful Axel Disasi strike to just fly over from the best part of 30 yards out before the game went to penalties.

Goalscorers Bowen and Thiago both scored with theirs first up, with Taty Castellanos slamming in off the underside of the bar Ouattara failed spectacularly with a panenka which Areola read like a book.

Callum Wilson put the Hammers 3-1 up in the shootout by firing into the top corner, with Keane Lewis-Potter reducing the arears with a cool penalty but the advantage was still the hosts ahead of the fourth kicks.

Tomas Soucek, like Wilson, fired into the top-right corner, with Mathias Jensen keeping the Bees in the game by firing in down the middle, but Kostantinos Mavrapanos still had the chance to win the game, which he did emphatically to send West Ham to the quarter-finals.
