Yes, you are that old – this year Hannah Montana turns 20, and to celebrate Disney has announced a Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will air on Disney+ on the 24th March.
The special, hosted by Call Me Daddy host Alex Cooper will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an in-depth interview with Miley Cyrus. The episode will dive into the history of the iconic Disney Channel show, featuring never seen before archival footage from the show.
The series was originally released in 2006, starring Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles and Billy Ray Cyrus. Centered around the life of Miley Stewart a regular teenage girl who lived a double life as Hannah Montana, a pop singer as she had to navigate two wildly different worlds. The show was a massive success globally and is still referenced today, with its feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie releasing in cinemas to $169.2 million at the global box office.
“‘Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus shared. “What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection. The fact it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years”.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres on the 24th March on Disney+
