Hi let’s play and watch the new trailer for Toy Story 5 – and this time, technology is the villain.
Seven years after Toy Story 4, the toys return for the next chapter in Pixar’s longest-running franchise, confronting a very modern threat. As screens become ever more central to childhood, the film explores what it means to be a toy in an increasingly digital world. The trailer sees a (now slightly balding) Woody reunite with Buzz Lightyear and the gang as they attempt to rescue Bonnie from the grip of her new Lilypad smart tablet.
The new instalment follows the events of Toy Story 4, when Woody chose a life of independence rather than being confined to Bonnie’s toy chest. Written and directed by Andrew Stanton, the film is described as less a traditional good-versus-evil showdown and more an existential reckoning for toys facing obsolescence. Instead of presenting technology as a straightforward antagonist, the story explores the impact of digital devices on childhood – and what that shift may ultimately mean for the toys.
The original voice cast largely remains the same with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen returning as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, accompanied by Joan Cusack, Blake Clark and Tony Hale. With some new additions to the franchise to include Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien.
Synopsis | The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today….electronics!
Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will open in UK and Irish cinemas on the 19th June.
