Several of Robert Carradine‘s former co-stars are sharing heartfelt tributes following his passing. Among those honoring his legacy are his “Lizzie McGuire” castmates, Hilary Duff and Jake Thomas.

Duff, who portrayed Carradine’s on-screen daughter, Lizzie, took to Instagram to express her profound grief over the tragic loss.

“This one hurts. It’s really hard to face this reality about an old friend,” Duff shared. “There was so much warmth in the McGuire family, and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents.”

Duff explained how grateful she was to have worked with the iconic actor. “I’m deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him,” she wrote.

Duff wasn’t the only Disney alum to speak out after learning of Carradine’s passing. Thomas, who played Duff’s fictional brother and Carradine’s on-screen son, also paid tribute to the actor with an emotional tribute.

“My heart hurts today. I was fortunate to know Bobby for most my life. And he was one of the coolest guys you could ever meet. Funny, pragmatic, sometimes cranky, always a little eccentric,” he wrote.

Thomas called Carradine his “family” before sharing that he has many “fond memories” with the actor.

“Good moments, challenging moments, and lots of laughs between. I looked up to him growing up. And later in life, I came to realize he thought I was pretty neat, too. So I guess I was doing something right in his eyes,” he wrote.

“Rest easy, Bobby. Love you, ‘Jaker,'” he finished.

Robert Carradine Reportedly Died By Suicide After A Years-Long Battle With Bipolar Disorder

According to NBC News, Carradine’s brother and manager, Keith Carradine, confirmed in a statement that the legendary actor had “succumbed to bipolar disorder after fighting it for almost 20 years.”

Born in March 1954 in Los Angeles, Carradine was a prominent member of the prolific Carradine acting dynasty. In addition to the credits mentioned above, Carradine appeared in “The Long Riders,” “The Big Red One,” and “Wavelength.”

Carradine’s daughter shared an image on Instagram, reflecting on her father’s death.

“My dad died today. My sweet, funny dad, who’s only 20 years older than I am, who never missed an opportunity to drive me to the airport or tell me how much he loved my homemade salad dressing, is gone,” she wrote. “If you knew my dad, you know he’s the guy that’s always there. Invite him to dinner? He’s in. Kid’s Little League game in Simi Valley, just tell him what time.”

Social Media Users React To The Actor’s Death

News of Carradine’s passing has triggered a massive outpouring of grief across social media, with fans banding together to offer condolences and celebrate his legacy.

“This is so sad,” someone wrote on Reddit, mentioning how “trapped” Carradine might’ve felt after struggling for so long.

“Man, this one hurts,” another said. “For an entire generation, he was the ultimate underdog icon as Lewis Skolnick, and for the next generation, he was the quintessential goofy dad on Lizzie McGuire. RIP to an absolute legend.”

“F-ck. Not today, man,” another Redditor shared. “Revenge of the Nerds came out the year I was born, but was huge for a geeky autistic kid growing up in a world that didn’t make sense. 71 is a good run, if life leaves you, but knowing he chose to leave life. It’s just not what I’m ready to deal with today. RIP nerd.”
