Hoda Kotb MIA From Today Show
Hoda Kotb was a staple on the Today Show for nearly twenty years. She took a step back from her full-time hosting duties in January 2025 to spend more time with her kids. She returned for special events, like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in November. Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Craig Melvin were supposed to cover the 2026 Winter Olympics in February but those plans changed after Savannah Guthrie’s mother went missing.
The longtime Today Show host immediately took a leave of absence while the police searched for her elderly mother. Hoda Kotb returned to the NBC morning program in Savannah Guthrie’s absence. Online sources speculated that Hoda Kotb’s return might be permanent as the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother drags on.
However, viewers were surprised on Tuesday, March 3, when Hoda Kotb was MIA. Craig Melvin started the show off by mentioning that audience members were wearing yellow ribbons in honor of Savannah Guthrie’s mother. He went on to introduce his co-host for the morning – Sheinelle Jones. Craig Melvin didn’t share the reason for Hoda Kotb’s surprising absence or when she will return.
