Savannah Guthrie Prepared To Return To Today
When news broke in February that Savannah Guthrie’s mother was missing, everyone thought she would be found quickly. But Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing for nearly two months. The trail has seemingly gone cold, though the authorities never had much to go on in the first place.
The Today Show host’s mother was seemingly kidnapped out of her home in the middle of the night. She was reported missing on February 1. The police quickly identified her bedroom as a crime scene and labeled the disappearance as an abduction.
Savannah Guthrie hasn’t been on the air since her mother’s shocking disappearance. She recently returned to the NBC studio to thank her co-hosts and staff for their prayers. Her return to the studio hints that she’s ready to get back to work.
NBC hasn’t revealed when exactly Savannah Guthrie will be back, but it’s expected to be soon.
Hoda Kotb’s Role Revealed
Savannah Guthrie’s co-hosts stepped up to fill the void during her absence. Sheinelle Jones and the other hosts took turns covering for her. A week after her last appearance on the show, Hoda Kotb was back in the anchor’s chair that she left a year earlier.

The former Today host left in 2025 to spend more time with her kids. But she didn’t think twice about returning during her friend and co-host’s time of need. What happens to Hoda Kotb when Savannah Guthrie returns?
A source told the Daily Mail that NBC plans a low-key welcome back for Savannah Guthrie. “They want the moment to feel hopeful. Something simple that viewers on the plaza and at home will instantly understand.”
The insider said there aren’t any plans to have Hoda Kotb sitting next to Savannah Guthrie upon her return. They want the focus to be only on Savannah Guthrie. But that doesn’t mean Hoda Kotb is done with the Today Show.
“Hoda is absolutely ready to step back in full-time if asked. She never really left the building mentally,” the source said.
