Trinity CineAsia has announced that it will bring Jack Ng’s (A Guilty Conscience) latest film, Night King, to cinemas in the UK, Ireland, and the Benelux for the Chinese Lunar New Year, coinciding with the film’s Hong Kong release.
Night King was inspired by the decline of Hong Kong’s nightlife following the closure of three iconic venues. Although the story is set in 2010, it explores themes that will resonate with a 2026 audience and with industries worldwide, including the film industry.
Several cast members will be familiar to Hong Kong cinema fans, many of whom also appeared in Ng’s previous feature, A Guilty Conscience. The film stars Dayo Wong (The Last Dance, A Guilty Conscience), Sammi Cheng (Lost Love, Infernal Affairs), Louise Wong (Anita), Fish Liew (Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In), Renci Yeung (Ready o/r Knot), Tse Kwan-ho (Cesium Fallout), and Kai-Wa Ho (Table for Six 2).
Chinese Lunar New Year can’t come soon enough.
Official Synopsis | The year is 2012. The once-glamorous Club EJ suddenly experiences a hostile takeover. Much like the nightclub industry, the glory days are over for the club’s manager, Foon (Dayo Wong), despite having stood tall in East Tsim Sha Tsui for decades. To make things worse for Foon, the club’s new CEO is none other than his cutthroat ex-wife, Madame V (Sammi Cheng)! Determined to change things up, she leaves Foon and his hostesses with no choice but to transform and modernise in order to breathe new life into their business. Little do they know, a powerful conglomerate has been pulling the strings all along to shut down Club EJ for good. To save their neon empire, Foon and V must join forces and make an epic last stand with the hostesses against what seems to be inevitable doom.
