ICC has revealed the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Team of the Tournament following an unforgettable edition hosted across India. The competition saw intense rivalries, record-breaking performances, and India’s long-awaited title triumph. Despite the victory, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur surprisingly missed out, with three of her teammates securing places in the elite XI.

Leading the selection is South African captain Laura Wolvaardt, who was named skipper of the side after dominating the run charts with 571 runs. Her brilliant centuries in both the semi-final and final were defining moments of South Africa’s campaign, even though they fell short in the summit clash against India.

From the Indian contingent, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma made the cut after exceptional performances that steered India to glory. Mandhana’s consistency at the top was pivotal as she ended as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer with 434 runs, including four half-centuries. Rodrigues, meanwhile, earned her spot with a stunning 127* against Australia in the semi-final — an innings hailed as one of the best in the history of women’s cricket. Her total of 292 runs at an average of 58.40 underlined her influence in pressure situations.

Deepti, crowned the Player of the Tournament, was the backbone of India’s campaign. With 22 wickets and crucial lower-order contributions, she showcased her all-round brilliance. Her performance in the final, where she took 5 for 39 and scored a match-winning 58, symbolized her stature as one of the most valuable players in world cricket.

    Star-studded line-up reflects global balance

The Team of the Tournament features a strong mix of talent from all major cricketing nations. Alongside the Indian trio, South Africa contributed three players — Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, and Nadine de Klerk. Kapp’s all-round excellence once again stood out, while de Klerk’s middle-order consistency and key wickets were vital to the Proteas’ success.

Australia’s representation came in the form of Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King. Each made a notable impact with both bat and ball as Australia reached the semi-finals before bowing out to India. Gardner’s power-hitting and off-spin, Sutherland’s adaptability, and King’s crafty leg-spin reinforced Australia’s depth in talent.

England’s duo of Sophie Ecclestone and Nat Sciver-Brunt also found their names in the mix. Ecclestone’s left-arm spin remained a constant threat throughout the competition, while Sciver-Brunt, named as the 12th player, contributed with impactful all-round displays despite England’s early exit. Pakistan’s Sidra Nawaz completed the side as the wicketkeeper, earning praise for her agility behind the stumps and composure under pressure.
