The U19 Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan in Dubai was not only defined by Pakistan’s emphatic victory but also by a pair of fiery on-field confrontations involving Indian opening batters Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Pakistan fast bowler Ali Raza.

The incidents, which unfolded during India’s steep run chase, underlined the raw intensity of an India-Pakistan title clash and quickly became a major talking point after the match.

Early breakthrough sparks Ayush Mhatre-Ali Raza face-off

Chasing a daunting target of 348, India’s hopes suffered an early blow when captain Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for just two runs. Attempting to counter-attack, Mhatre chipped a delivery from Ali Raza straight to mid-off.

What followed immediately caught the attention of players and spectators alike. Raza celebrated the wicket with an aggressive send-off and appeared to exchange words with the departing batter. Mhatre, clearly unhappy, turned back and walked towards the bowler, responding angrily. The situation escalated for a brief moment before teammates and on-field umpires intervened to separate the two and restore calm.

🚨 Heated argument between Ayush Mhatre & pakistani players.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s attack raises the temperature

Before Mhatre’s dismissal, Indian opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi added fuel to the contest with a blistering assault on Raza. The left-hander smashed 26 runs off just 10 balls from the pacer, including two towering sixes and a boundary, visibly unsettling Pakistan’s spearhead during the opening exchanges.

However, the contest swung again in Pakistan’s favour in the fifth over. Raza struck back by having Suryavanshi caught, triggering another animated moment. The fast bowler celebrated aggressively, running towards the batter and exchanging words. Suryavanshi responded in kind, pointing his bat and gesturing back at Raza before walking off, resulting in a second heated face-off within the space of a few overs.

Pakistan’s hostile spell decides the final

The twin flashpoints summed up the high-octane nature of an India-Pakistan final, but Pakistan’s performance with the ball ensured the drama did not affect their grip on the match. Raza’s hostile spell, highlighted by the crucial wickets of both Indian openers, set the tone for a dominant bowling display.

India’s chase soon unraveled after the early dismissals, with wickets falling regularly under sustained pressure. Pakistan capitalised on the momentum, bowling India out for just 156 runs and sealing a massive 191-run victory in the final of the U19 Asia Cup 2025.

The comprehensive win marked their first U19 Asia Cup title in 13 years, capping a dominant campaign and underlining the depth of their youth cricket system. While the confrontations added spice to the final, Pakistan’s clinical performance ensured that the spotlight ultimately rested on their long-awaited triumph in Dubai.
