It has been confirmed that the fifth season of the HBO series Industry, starring BAFTA Winner Marisa Abela, Myha’la, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia, Toheeb Jimoh, will be the final one. HBO shared the news when confirming the series has been renewed for a fifth season.
Also featuring Kiernan Shipka, Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani, and Edward Holcroft, Industry debuted in 2020. Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, it focuses on an investment bank called Pierpoint & Co, based in London, as a group of recent graduates come on board. The show tangles the professional and private lives of the team and soon grows to incorporate a vast landscape of the country’s financial sector.
Down and Kay have experience in the banking and investment industry.
Industry’s first season debuted to 0.089 million US viewers and totalled a Rotten Tomatoes score of 78% from 32 critics. The second season’s first episode was watched by 0.082 million viewers and holds a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season three and season four hold ratings of 98% and 94%, respectively. It has also been a huge hit in the UK on BBC iPlayer, where it debuted during the pandemic in 2020 on the platform.
Additional proof of the show’s success includes 12 award nominations and four wins. Nonetheless, the story of these UK-based bankers comes to an end with the fifth season, with season four due to conclude this March following a January debut.
“We’re privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO,” the creators shared in an HBO official statement, as shared by Dark Horizons. “For some time now, we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party.”
The fourth season has overseen Yasmin (Abela) going to extreme lengths to take down Tender while Henry (Harington) is forced to look the consequences of his past actions in the face.
Industry is available to stream in the UK on BBC iPlayer now.
