With 2026 just around the corner, Katy Perry and her beau Justin Trudeau appear certain about carrying their blossoming romance into the new year.

The pair’s bond reportedly began in July, when they were first spotted together following Perry’s split from ex Orlando Bloom.

From sparks insiders say were initially fueled by Perry’s fascination with Trudeau’s zodiac sign, to the couple stepping out publicly together, their connection continues to grow stronger. 

For the “Fireworks” hitmaker and the politician, welcoming 2026 appears to be all about enjoying time together.

A source told US Weekly that “Justin and Katy will be spending New Year’s together,” adding, “They are very smitten and into each other.”

The insider also shared that Perry is proud of her partner, noting that she is “really inspired and impressed by his accomplishments.” “He’s a great match for her,” the source added.

The couple’s reported holiday plans come just weeks after they paid a visit to former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko.

As The Blast reported, Kishida shared a photo from the meeting on his X, which showed all four of them posing in front of a Christmas tree. While the image itself appeared warm and festive, the caption drew particular attention.

Kishida referred to Perry as Trudeau’s “partner” and reflected on his long-standing friendship with him and their shared achievements. Trudeau reposted the message, adding, “Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.”

Following Trudeau’s post, fans flooded social media with reactions. While many were surprised to see Perry stepping into the world of international diplomacy, others viewed her appearance as a clear sign that the relationship is becoming serious.

One online user gushed, “W hard launch,” while another echoed, “OK, hard launch!!!” A third X user joked, “Katy Perry doing international diplomacy. Did not have this on my top risks of 2025 list.” Another commenter added, “Not Katy joining him on official business. Oh, they are serious serious!”

This wasn’t the first time the pair had been spotted together. Back in October, the couple marked Perry’s 41st birthday with a cabaret show at the iconic Crazy Horse in Paris and were later seen outside the venue holding hands.

As the “Roar” hitmaker and Trudeau’s relationship continue to thrive, those close to the singer have shed light on what initially drew her to him, pointing to her deep interest in astrology and the supernatural.

According to The Blast, a friend of Perry revealed that she was especially drawn to the fact that Trudeau is “an earth sign, a Capricorn.” The source added that the pop star finds comfort in earth signs, believing they help “ground her.”

The pal also shared that Perry had been hoping to connect with “a strong, older man who is high-profile,” describing Trudeau as an ideal match. “Justin is exactly the man for her. He meets her needs, and she’s absolutely thrilled,” the friend said.

Beyond astrology fueling Perry’s attraction to the 54-year-old politician, she is reportedly leaning into mystical practices to keep their connection strong.

As The Blast reported, a source revealed that Perry has incorporated numerology, angel numbers, past-life healing, and Tarot readings into her routine, using a range of spiritual tools to nurture the relationship.

The insider added that she is also working with a claircognizance psychic to help guide her bond with the man she reportedly calls the “love of her life.”

Amid Perry’s romance with Trudeau, her ex-husband Russell Brand has weighed in publicly, taking a jab at the relationship.

Speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on Thursday, Dec. 18, Brand referenced his former marriage to Perry and her new romantic interest. 

Per The Blast, he told the audience, “Look, Katy Perry- I was married to her. I still love her, and I’m glad her mom is here to hear me say that. I was fine with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man. Don’t put me in the same category as that guy.”

Brand and Perry separated in 2011. In April 2025, Brand was charged with five counts related to assault and rape following allegations made by four women.
